The church aligns with the denomination's mission to "make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world," focusing on worship, discipleship, and community service.
Fulfilling the Great Commission
Calvary UMC fulfills the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) through its commitment to evangelism, discipleship, and community engagement:
1. Evangelism: The church utilizes the Operation Andrew model, encouraging members to identify, pray for, and invite others into a relationship with Christ using the relational model of the Disciple Andrew, who introduced his brother to Jesus.
2. Discipleship: Through a commitment to Biblical study through small groups and tailored ministry programs for men, women, youth, and children, the church equips individuals to grow in their faith and live out Christian principles daily.
3. Community Engagement: Calvary UMC is committed to the model of Christ, whose ministry was focused on liberation and Justice. We actively work to be a solution to issues such as food insecurity, inadequate healthcare, as well as educational and economic disparities. We seek to be a manifestation of the prayer of Christ that “they will all be one” (John 17:21-24) we actively partner with sister communities of faith such as Iman Atlanta and Pathway Christian Church, local non-profits and NGOs such as the Westview Community Organization, Neighborhood Planning Unit T and The Kenek’t and our l
